Visit to the Basilica of Vézelay with the family

Vezelay solstice child

Would you like to visit the Basilica of Vézelay with your family? But how can you ensure that the beauty of this 12th century church speaks to your children and teenagers as much as it does to you and that this visit is fascinating for all ages?

This summer, every Tuesday at 10 a.m., a guide will welcome you to the Visitor's House for a morning of discovery that is as fun as it is educational!

Outside if the weather permits and/or the Visitor's House we will discover how the human body and nature inspired the builders.

In Basilica, like the pilgrims of old, we will tour the Church. We will look at the large stone images of the tympanums and the smaller ones of the capitals.

This large stone ship will question your children. Why is he so big and so beautiful? What are relics? Who was Marie-Madeleine whose first name he bears? How did the sculptors represent Christ from the large tympanum? Why the Zodiac in a church? After the visit, you can picnic under the trees on the large terrace behind the Basilica. You'll have stunning views and plenty of space to run and play!
